My Savior

The sun shines ever bright,
Searing a light into my eyes.
My night turns into light,
When you helped me rise.

My tears turn to flowing dust,
Before your beautiful smile.
You saved my soul with your trust,
So everything has become worthwhile.

Your very touch burns like fire,
Cleansing away everything I feared.
You are the illusion of my desire,
Yet you have never disappeared.

You are the savior of my eternal soul,
So keep safe my heart that you stole.

Chapter 4.

“Good,” Aleron tells me. “I won’t bore you with the history until another time. I’ll only tell you about our parents, what we are and why we’re doing this. That should cover all you would need to know if you want to survive in our world. But before I begin I must say one thing, the laws of the mortal world do not apply to us. We do anything, no matter how illegal, to survive.” They both look sad as Aleron continued explaining to me. “And one more thing, it might be the hardest thing. We have a different life span than humans, so after a while for your family’s safety, you’ll have to break contact with them.”

“Is there no other way?” I ask, knowing at this point they will not lie to me.

“There is no other way,” Lys said sadly. “Not only is our lifespan longer, but we also age slower and that is not something that can be hidden.”

“How old are you?” I ask suddenly turning to Lys. “Aleron says he’s 5 years older than me, what about you?”

“I’m the same age as Aleron, we grew up as foster brothers,” he said with a smile.
“Now stop changing the topic, you have a lot to learn.”

“He’s right,” Aleron says turning back towards me. “The first thing you need to know is to how to recognize other Faeries. It’s simple if they have no short on, than the tattoo gives them away. By the way not many humans can see it so don’t worry about your parents. Another way is our eyes; they have a glow that makes them noticeable in the dark. Now remember when you meet another faerie, contact us and try to get away from that person. We are basically in a war with everybody else; you can trust no one except us.”

“Why?” I ask, this was all very strange. “Isn’t that a sad way to live? Never trusting, always fighting?”

“It is our way,” Lys whispers to no one in particular. “Its how we survived all this time, it is the only sure way to survive.”

“He’s right,” Aleron says. “Are way might not be popular and might be cruel but it insures that we survive, and that’s all that matters. Do you understand what we’re getting at?” he continues not expecting an answer. “You must inform us of even a suspension, since your protection comes first. You might have just met me but I’ve known you for a long time and think of you as a sister. So, I will not let you die if I can do anything about it.”

“Alright, I’ll contact you guys,” I say not being able to look at Aleron. “But first, where’s my stuff? I had my bag with me when I was almost killed.”

“Oh, it’s in the corner. We didn’t open it or anything, so don’t worry,” Aleron
points to one corner beside the bed. I jump of the bed, grabbing my bag and shuffling to find my cell. “If you wanted it so much why didn’t you ask earlier?”

“I was a little preoccupied,” I mumble looking at the date on my cell. “October 14, 2009,” I sigh. “Only one day has passed since I fainted?”

“Ya,” Aleron says. “Actually more like a few hours, since it’s only 1 am."

“Even thought I changed into... whatever I am?” I ask hesitantly.

“You didn’t change,” Lys says to me. “You just became what you truly are, so of course it’s not gonna take long.”

“Ah shit,” I say looking at my missed calls. “I got like a 100 missed calls from my parents and friends. I knew this was gonna happen,” I sigh. “What the fuck do I tell them? That I died for awhile than came back as a faerie? Like who’s gonna believe that shit?” I was panicking.

“Don’t worry, we’ll think of something,” Aleron says smiling down at me. “We couldn’t have survived so long without being able to come up with a few stories. So don’t call them for awhile until we finish everything.”

“But, their worried,” I say glancing down at my cell.

“They have been worried for a whole night, an hour more won’t kill them,” he tells me as I sit back down, cradling my phone. “Now let’s get back to what we were talking about. Since you have to be able to contact us we’ll give you are cell numbers. Call us anytime, and don’t worry about what time of the day it is, as you might notice later, we don’t really need a lot of sleep.”

“Umm, question,” I say, interrupting him.

“Shoot.”

“I remember that when Lys attacked me he had no weapons,” I start. “Then how was he almost able to kill me?”

“That’s a good question and the answer is complicated,” Aleron says, scratching his head. “I’ll leave that one to Lys since he’s better at that aspect than I am.”

“Fine, there was a reason why I was leaving all these to you,” Lys mumbles glaring
at Aleron. “So, how to explain. The easiest way of thinking about is that each Faerie is associated with an element. There are six basic elements.”

“Wait, wait,” I say. “Six? I thought there was only five.”

“Well technically humans don’t count it as an element, but Faeries do,” Lys says, running his hand over his hair. “The six are Fire, Water, Earth, Wood, Metal, and Air. Now each element is associated with a group of gods and the half-blood children of those gods have the power to control them. Some can control two and in the rare case even three. As you saw yesterday I can control air but also fire, there two elements which complement each other. That’s how I almost killed you, I sent a thin slice of air at you fast enough to cut like a knife, it works wonders, trust me. I also know that the Al here can control water and metal, so you being his sister, might fall under the same category. Maybe, it doesn’t always work out that way. You get what I’m saying?”

“No,” I state, rubbing my temples. “I’m still stuck on the fact that my mother is a god.”

“We say God, but maybe we’re not using the correct term,” Aleron tells me. “They’re more like fallen angels, than gods.”

“That doesn’t make it easier to understand,” I sigh. “How could such things even exist? I feel like I just stepped into the twilight zone.”

“That’s one way of putting it,” Lys says. “But is that the only thing that’s confusing you?”

“No actually,” I state. “I get the whole element thing, but when will I actually manifest such powers?”

“In a day or two,” Aleron says. “It takes a while for the Faerie blood to awaken.” He suddenly stops short since at the moment someone knocks on the door.

“You guys expecting anyone?” I ask looking at the door.

“No,” Aleron says as Lys gets up and leaves the room. We both quietly stare at the door, when we hear Lys’ running footsteps.

“You,” Lys says pointing at me. “You, did you contact your parents in anyway?”

“No, I haven’t,” I tell him.

“Then how the hell do they know where you are?” Lys whispers angrily.

“What? They’re here?” I ask about to start panicking again. “How could they know.” I stop remembering something my dad told me about my cell a long time ago. “I know, I remember now, my dad told me they had a GPS put into my cell so that if I ever get lost they can find me.”

“Shit,” Lys says punching the wall. “This would have been good information to know like 10 minutes ago. What are we gonna do Al?”

I glance at Aleron, leaning against the wall, looking as though he was solving the world’s biggest problem. I notice how just like me, he likes to chew his bottom lip while his thinking and even taps his finger to a rhythm. “Hold on, let me think,” he says quietly to Lys. I could see his brows furrow together trying to come up with a plan. “Lys, you’ll have to let them in, we don’t wanna seem suspicious. Aletta, you change your clothes, I’ll give you new ones. You’re gonna act as if you had an attack yesterday and we found you, you were going to call your parents soon but first you wanted to take a shower. Do you understand?”

“Yes,” I nod. “But how do we explain why we look alike?” I was tapping my foot becoming nervous.

“The truth,” he says standing up straight. “We tell them that we’re related and my foster brother here is the one that found you. He saw that you looked like me and decided to bring you back here. That’s how we found out that you where my sister. Now I don’t have any more time to explain. Lys, go open the door, I’m going to be in the kitchen and Aletta you stay in here.”

As he finishes he turns to leave when I say, “Wait.”

He turns to look at me, “What’s up?”

“I thought Faeries couldn’t lie, that’s what it said in all the books,” I say
seriously, while he looks at me as if I’m crazy for asking such a question at this time.

“That’s a myth, only the Fallen Angels can’t lie,” he says turning around again. “We have to much human in us not to be able to lie, so don’t worry and do what I told you.” With that he walks out with Lys on his heels.

“Hey, where are the clothes you told me about?” I call of after them.

“In the bathroom, I put it in there when you fainted,” Lys calls not even turning around. I sigh to myself as I get off from the bed, moving toward the bathroom. I decide since Lys had to open the door soon I should probably move faster. I close the door of the bathroom behind me quickly noticing the bag that Lys was talking about. I remove the shirt and jeans from the bag wondering how Aleron knew my size and then I decide against that trail of thought. I quickly take of my shirt and the skirt of my uniform, pulling on the clothes that they had left me.

As I open the door to leave the bathroom I hear my mother’s voice, “Where is my daughter?” she sounded mad, man I was in for a beating.

“She’s in the guest room,” I heard Lys say calmly. “She woke up about an hour ago.”

“If you as so much touched a hair on her head, I will kill you,” that was Ray’s voice, it was sweet how much he cared about me, but I hope he never finds out that Lys almost killed me.

“I don’t have a death wish,” I think Lys mumbled. It seems my hearing had changed as well. I wonder what else has. I was debating wheatear to staying the room and wait for them or go meet them in the hall when I heard Lys say, “Anyway who would want to touch that little brat.”

I never said I had much patience, so upon hearing that I open the door and stalk down the hallway. Even thought I hadn’t actually stepped out of the room since I woke up, I knew exactly where Lys was. How dare he talk about me like that, he seriously has a death wish. As I turn the corner I notice that Lys’s back is towards me while my family is facing me. I could see the shock on their face as they saw me but I ignored for the moment so that I could aim a kick at Lys. As I felt my foot connect I heard a satisfactory “Oww” as he jumped back to turn and look at me. “Who you calling a brat, old man?”

“You,” Lys says glaring at me. “And you just proved my point. I swear I liked you better when you were asleep and your mouth was shut.”

“And I like you better when I can’t see you,” I sneer.

“Aletta?” I hear my dad say, he sounds surprised. “Why are you acting like that?”

“Hi dad, mom, everyone else,” I say noticing Ollie and Kim in the back. “Sorry about that, Lys just pissed me off.”

“Lys?” dad asks.

“What kind of host are you? Not even introducing yourself,” I say turning back toward Lys. I was trying to cover my nervousness by talking. “This Lysander, but you can call him Lys. Actually now that I think about it, what’s your last name? I didn’t ask before.”

He just looks at me, rolls his eyes and turns back toward my parents, “Let m introduce myself properly, my name is Lysander Wolfhound. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Let’s go into the living room and get more comfortable, since you probably have a lot of questions.” He looks at the whole group and back to me. “I thought you said you only had one brother.”

“I do. The other one’s my boyfriend and she’s my best friend,” I tell him, letting him lead the way down to the living room. I saw him glance at Ollie and Ollie stiffens and glare back at the stare. Lys only smiles and moves his stare. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking, his face gave nothing away. We walk in silence for awhile, I wonder how big this place is and how much money these two actually have. From the stuff I see, they have a lot. They had beautiful paintings and antique tables lines up in the hall and the light where chandeliers. Man, it took all I have to close my mouth, and one of these people is my brother. I’ve hit gold, I think smiling to myself.

Hell

Step by step, I drag my feet,
Away from the bloody stream.
How could I have been so beat,
That I could not even dream?

The ghosts of my past hunt me,
Never ceasing their endless scream.
My disappointment drags behind me,
Like a replaying theme.

I know I tried my hardest,
I just wish to finally rest.
I could have been the bravest,
If I had finished the contest I detest.

Would my ghost leave my empty shell,
Or would they even drag that to hell?
